Jolie petite course d'initiation avec un final un peu aérien. Un poil plus long et plus grimpant que sa voisine d'en face, l'M.

### Montée

Depuis le sentier dit du balcon N qui relie le Montenvers au Plan de L'Aiguille, il y a plusieurs possibilités pour rejoindre le bas du glacier des Natillons, par exemple par une des sentes qui rejoignent les hauts des 2 moraines, ou en passant directement entre les moraines depuis le sentier. Se diriger vers le pied du couloir issu du Col de la Buche et repérer des échelles sur sa droite. Les emprunter pour rejoindre le couloir que l'on remonte jusqu'au Col de la Buche par des éboulis ou de la neige (40° max) selon la période.

Monter à droite du col dans les gros blocs puis contourner la face raide versant Nantillons (pas de difficulté). Grimper ensuite droit au-dessus dans une cheminée puis des fissures pour rejoindre la crête 5 m avant le sommet (III/III+).

### Descente

Descendre soit par le même cheminement avec un petit rappel de 20 pour le final (le plus rapide), soit en faisant 2 ou 3 rappels de 20 m en utilisant les différents relais directement vers le col de la Buche.

<p>Desde Plan de l&#8217;Aiguille o los chalets de blaitière, a por el glaciar de Nantillons y llegar al pie del corredor SW del collado de la Bûche (entre la aguja de l&#8217;M y Petits Charmoz). coger el corredor orilla izquierda (escaleras) para evitar las pedreras. Remontar el corredor (45° si hay nieve) hasta el collado. Desde el collado, remontar bloques hasta el pie de la cara NW de Petits Charmoz. atravesar a la derecha horizontalmente y llegar a la vertiente SW. después de pasar el nivel de la cumbre, remontar un sistema de chimeneas oblicuas a la izquierda y llegar a la cumbre.</p>

Petits Charmoz - via normal por el collado de la Bûche

## Approach

From the Plan de l'Aiguille, get to the Nantillons glacier by traversing under the Aiguilles on a good path that first goes towards the Lac Bleu. Under the Aiguille de Blaitière go up the glacier high enough to go along its edge and reach the moraine and then the Nantillons Glacier. From the glacier go up the Etala couloir, (between the Petite and Grand Charmoz,) snow and loose rocks, until it reaches a rock step with chimneys and cracks. It is also possible to reach here from Montenvers, following the route towards the Aiguille de l’M and then traversing to the right to reach the couloir.

## Route

Climb the first slab to the left of the right hand chimney crack, (4b, 1 peg for 3m) then go to the double chimney crack. Climb this “à cheval” (3b, 1 peg) and reach a large terrace. Climb a crack on the right for 8m (3c, 1 peg,) and exit to the left on a sloping slab, (3m, 3b) to climb a 4m chimney (3c, 1peg,) awkward with a sack. Belay at the top of the difficulties. By easy steps and ledges climb the couloir to reach the Col de l'Etala. From the Col go to the left (N) to a little triangular cliff with cracks. Start on the left of the ridge, climb obliquely right to reach the ridge and come back to the left, following a ramp leading to the foot of the “Livre Ouvert”, (Open Book), 3b (III). Climb the « Livre Ouvert », (4b, 2 pegs). Follow the ridge, or a path on the Mer de Glace face for about 50m. Overcome a vertical rock step on the crest of the ridge, (3c), then follow the ridge to a gap. Go around the step that follows to the left and continue along the crest of the ridge to the summit. At the level of the gap it is possible to escape by bypassing the summit on the Nantillons side. From the gap it is also possible to reach the summit by bypassing the step to the left. One arrives at a pitch of 4b which leads directly to the summit, (some pegs, belay on spikes.)

## Descent

From the summit, descend on the Nantillons side by 2 short abseils (20 and 25m) or down climb a gully (3b, 50m), then a system of ledges and little steps lead to the Col de la Bûche. Go down from the col keeping at first to the true left bank, then to the right and finally back to the true left side again. Careful with stonefall.

## Acceso

Desde Plan de l'Aiguille, llegar al glaciar de Nantillons y atravesarlo hacia la base de la vertiente SW de Petits Charmoz. El pilar está a la derecha de la cara. Acceso 1h30.

## Itinerario

Coger la chimenea de derecha que bordea una placa con spits (IV), o la de izquierda (IV, 1 pitón), y remontar hasta una cornisa. No seguir esta cornisa hacia la izquierda pero atravesar algún metro a la derecha y montar la reunión en una sabina al pie de una fisura evidente con un bicoin de madera que se ve 3 m más arriba. |

Seguir a lo más fácil hasta la arista de la travesía de Petits Charmoz (III y IV). Sortear el gendarme por la izquierda (chimenea de IV que llega al buzón), luego seguir la arista (cornisa, pasos de III) hasta la cumbre.

## Descenso

Para la bajada, llegar al collado de la Bûche para seguir el corredor en su fondo y no coger directamente el corredor de izquierda a pesar de las cintas de rápeles (llegamos entonces a una serie de rápeles con cintas dudosas y difíciles de completar... pero se puede).

Desde la cumbre, volver 5 m para atrás y destrepar algún metro vertiente S para encontrar una reunión de rápel (cintas visibles desde la cumbre en un bloque por encima ya a la derecha de aquella reunión). Bajar por un rápel de 30 m más o menos vertiente Nantillons para llegar a un corredor y cornisas (hitos hacia la derecha) que llevan al collado de la Bûche. Este rápel se puede evitar destrepando.

Desender el couloir et vers le bas, à la rupture de pente, trouver sur la gauche une succession d'échelles vertigineuses et appréciables!

Bonita escalada de 200 m más o menos, mantenida y clásica. Cuidado para el acceso y el regreso, a las caídas de piedras que salen encima de los seracs cuando la travesía del nevero y del glaciar de Nantillons, muy retirado con una pequeña parte de hielo (no puntiagudo).

<p>Es el 2.<sup>o</sup> pilar al N del corredor de subida a la vía normal.</p> <p>(Bloque inestable en L6), si nos fiamos de la reseña Mont-Blanc granite T2, no pasa nada.
