Approach

From the Notre-Dame de la Gorge parking, go up the true left bank of the Bon Nant river by the pedestrian path at the side of the langlauf piste. (You pass the artificial ice climbing area prepared by the Contamine Guides, Panneau d’Initiation). 100m before the chapel, cross the river towards the icefalls on the other side.

Route

Two ice climbs possible:

Downstream icefall

L#1| Several bulges with one vertical 30m - Tree belay on the left. L#2 | To the right then straight up a curtain. Exit in the trees by hooking branches and roots, 30m tree belay.

Upstream icefall

About 100m upstream, just before the chapel built into the rocks. L#1 | A long step, not too steep, a traverse, a short step a traverse then a step traversed to the right. Tree belay (45m). L#2 | Make an exit onto the Roman road above if possible.

Descent

Walk back down the Roman road or abseil from the trees, depending on the conditions.
