A non serious route with a pitch each on two separate rock faces, followed by three pitches leading to an easy descent.
Approach 15 to 20 mins From the Col de Colombière take the path towards the Col Rasoir and Pic Jallouvre. The path levels off at around 1750m. A few metres after it starts to climb again there is a faint path leading off leftwards, cairn. Follow this more or less horizontally to the foot of the first crag. There is a bolt low don at the steep start and one clearly visible higher up. N.B. If you you are still on the main path when you get to a small rock with the letters FFP in red, (Fanfoué des Pnottas route,) then you have gone too far, so make a slightly descending traverse to the foot of the crag.
Route circa 2 hrs L1 4c 40m A steep start followed by an easy angled slab. Double bolt belay at the top. Walk up to the foot of the next rock face.
L2 4a 45m Easy slab climbing. Bolt and cairn at the start. Double bolt belay at the top. Walk up to the foot of the next rock face.
L3 4c 45m Start at the bolt line furthest right, (some 20m from the descent path). Initially steep climbing, 5b if you follow the bolt line, 4c if you go 1 metre to the left at the second bolt, then back right level with the third bolt. Then a section of mediocre rock on the left before climbing a slab on the right. Uncomfortable double bolt belay.
L4 4b 45m Slab, Double bolt belay a few metres above an obvious stance
L5 4c 50m Slab.
Descent Go up the broad ridge, 2 bolts (2b) to reach the Via Ferrata descent path, (cable) in about 35m. Follow this to the main path and so back down to the col and carpark.
An easy introduction to multi pitch climbing. Belays on two, unlinked bolts. Stances not always comfortable. Excellent rock, (if a bit too abrasive!), except for a short section in P3. Mostly slab climbing. The guidebook gives the grade as 5b for P3 but this is easily and logically avoidable at 4c by steeping to the left
