NE Ridge (Normal Route) from the Mischabel Hut

Approach # 3h from Hannig, 4 h from Saas Fee.

Either walk from Saas Fee (1800m) or take the cable car to Hannig (2320m). (12,50 CHF with half price card or free with a Saas Fee tourist card.)
From Hannig, follow the path which traverses to the foot of the ridge that leads up to the hut. This is equipped with cables and ladders.

Route

Climb the rocky ridge above the hut then reach the Hohbalm glacier without difficulty. Cross the glacier to the N and climb the snow slope up to the Windjoch (3850m). Now climb the NE ridge, firstly snowy then rocky, by mainly following the crest. It is possible to make some detours to the right to avoid some of the rock climbing. The last 100m involves more continuous scrambling, (II). The summit is small and can be quite busy on a sunny weekend.
