Traversée NE >> SW

A short outing along an exposed ridge not too far from the Helbronner cable car. The traverse can be done in either direction, at a similar grade. The description below is from left to right.

Approach

From the Torino hut, pass over the col des Flambeaux and head W and then more to the S, under the Aig du Toule and into the snow bowl below the Aig d’Entreves and head towards the NE ridge.

Route # 2h

Climb up a snow slope then some broken rocks to reach the ridge. Climb this on easy mixed ground to the foot of the « Aiguille ». This is climbed by a series of cracks leading to the top of a first pinnacle. Climb down several metres, exposed to reach a second pinnacle. Climb down this for about 20m and traverse along the crest of the ridge. Easier ground then leads to the Col d’Entreves.

Descent

Go down the snow slopes from the col d’Entrèves to join the approach track.
