Approach
From the Trient village, follow the road towards the glacier until the parking at Peuty (TMB B&B). Start of a langlauf ski track. The Odeyi icefalls are clearly visible from here. Go along the side of the langlauf track for about a kilometre until just after the “alpage d’Odeyi”, which can bee seen to the right of the road, (a second parking in summer.) The ice falls are visible up on the right. Gain the start as best as possible by climbing up the snow slopes.
Route
The “Alligator” icefall is the one on the right. “Label Bleu” (I 2.) is to its left. There are two other possibilities further left: “Pousse pas Archimède” ( I 4 ) and ” Y’a du plomb dans l’air” ( I 4 ).
Depending on snow conditions, the ice fall is climbed in 2 or 3 pitiches, belaying on trees. The last pitch (45m) is the steepest and most technical.
Descent
Abseilling from trees, slings in place.
This area faces N, and does not get the sun. At the beginning of the season, when the snow does not cover the lower, easier angled slopes the route is 3 rather than two pitches. Has some challenging steep sections with good resting positions in between.
