Climbers had walked past the Lames Fontaine (2766 m) for decades without giving them a second glance. Then, in the early 1990s, Guy Abert decided it might be worthwhile investigating the possibilities offered by this jagged little ridge. His explorations resulted in 19 pitches of well-protected climbing, rising to the very foot of the Aiguille de Blaitière.
This pleasant, stress-free climb, surrounded by spectacular scenery, is a perfect introduction to Chamonix granite.
