UCPA Sector

Thanks to the enormous amount of work that the mountain guides of Les Contamines-Montjoie have put in to the cleaning of this crag, many single and multipitch routes have been opened up. It’s a good place to learn to climb and to climb up to 6c. There are some routes in French 7th grade but the nice routes are mainly the easier routes. The rock looks rather bizarre – somewhere between gneiss and schist - mainly slabs and some overhangs, crimps and friction. In the Drilling sector, the rock tends to be a bit crumbly. The Amphithéâtre sector is very comfortable for children. The amusement park is very close, where you find a small lake, children games, a ropes course, a mountain bike course, a golf course and a pub. A victim of its own success, there are a lot of people in summer.
