Wellenkuppe: ENE ridge from the Rothornhütte

At first glance, the Wellenkuppe (3903m) seems like a little brother to the imposing Ober Gabelhorn, and is often climbed in the same breath. But it’s also possible to climb Wellenkuppe as a goal in itself, or as a warm-up before a bigger race, not least thanks to the proximity of the three starting points (Arbenbiwak, Rothornhütte, Cabane du Grand Mountet). It’s a mixed high-mountain race, with superb panoramic views (Matterhorn, Zinalrothorn, Ober Gabelhorn…) and the possibility of a traverse on the Ober Gabelhorn.
