The Adlerhorn (3988m) is one of those “forgotten 4000ers”, skirting the 4000 m mark but never quite reaching it. As a result, it has a poor reputation, especially as it almost always remains in the shadow of its neighbors, the Strahlhorn and the Rimpfischorn. And yet, it rises proudly like an eagle’s nose, half snowy, half rocky, as you look up from Riffelalp to Grüensee. It is characterized by steep glacial slopes to the N, and a partly vertical rock face to the S.
