From Fusshornbiwak

Go north, slightly uphill to around 2900m, then cross to the NE the rocks/stream to the other side. Go down south on the moraine, until you reach the 2432m marker (big 3m high pole). From the marker, continue NE, always staying at about the same altitude. There is some kind of flat area with some little stone walls (old sheep walls?) there. There are tracks from sheep and goats. Cross the river using the bridge downstream from the waterfall (not indicated on the map, but it is there, where the maps says “Aletschi”), around 2320m.

Then climb back up NE to point 2407m, continue N on the flat part until the cliff (point 2367), then go down to the glacier along the scree. Once on the Aletschgletscher, cross it in a E direction, to get to the left bank. (There are some big crevasses/ice mazes in the middle, so best to cross it as soon as possible). Once on the left bank, follow it upstream until Märjelensee, where you join the route coming from Fiesch: Go in a NW direction, cross the first central moraine, and walk upstream between the 2 central moraines. Around 2500m, start slowly heading to the left bank, crossing the E central moraine again. Leave the glacier around 2630m, (big crevasses, not easy to find the best way), and climb in the chimney until you reach the kairns and ladder going to Konkordiahütte. The path is not evident to find, the other, longer, option is to go around Konkordiahütte and take the ladders on the north side.

  • Should take 6-7h, but because of the maze of crevasses on the glacier, it can take much longer… No markings or trails along the way, but most of the time the way is obvious.
