An easy outing recommended for beginners or early season, with uniform slopes. You have to put your skins on and off at least twice and there are some flat sections. Also the first part follow the pistes. (Can use the ski lifts in the season to the summit of Salles.)

Ascent

From Combloux: From the La Cry-Cuchet parking (1260m) follow the blue piste for about 10-15 minutes then the signposted, snow shoe track, past Beauregard, to the “Sommet des Salles” (1757m). (Arrival point of three chair lifts.) Descend the Jorasse piste for less than 100m and take the pedestrian path on the left (flattish) to the Col de Jaillet (1732m). From Megève: From Bal Trap (1400m), go up to the col de Jaillet (1723m) through the forest passing the chalet des Frasses (1623m) (At the start follow the piste).

From the Col de Jaillet, climb up NW to the Petit Croise Baulet (2009m). From the Petit Croise Baulet, descend to the Col de l’Avenaz (1929m). Go up to the summit of the Grand Croise Baulet (2236m) by the SE ridge.

Descent

By the same route. When you rejoin the Jorasse piste take the traverse path straight ahead to join the Croix piste. If you descend the Jorsase piste you need to take the Jouty lift back up. In good conditions, ski down from directly from the summit of the Grand Croise Baulet.

Gentle and even slopes with a 40m descent from the summit of des Salles to the col du Jaillet, and a second descent of 80m from the Petit Croise Baulet to the col de l’Avenaz . Keep an eye on the snow conditions, especially for the final slope. IGN names the mountain as Croise Baulet and not Croisse Baulet
